Built in wine cabinets

Outside of a proper cellar that you keep tucked away under the kitchen or in your barn somewhere off at your summer home, a built in wine cabinet is the best way to keep your wine at the proper temperature without wasting a ton of money on energy bills. Like all built in cabinets your wine built in cabinet is going to go into a recess or extra space in your wall. This means that the wine will be cool regardless of the weather outside. The cabinets are insulated and when you get something in them, they tend to keep it at an ambient temperature which in this case is lower due to the largest side of the cabinet being built into the wall behind it.

One of my friends even has a cheese box built into the bottom his wine rack in addition to having an insulated column as well as a small cooler built in to keep come of the finer vintages in there.

If I was to bill the specifications of my dream wine cabinet, it would definitely include one of these separate chambers as I know of too many bottles that got warm and then the cork dried up or worse the wine went went well beyond its intended age and ended up as sour grapes. If you are going to be particular about your wine or happen to live in a hot state like Texas then it is imperative that you get a wine cabinet with completely cooled shelves. For those of you who are worried about it being a complicated task, don’t fret as the front ventilation systems that these cabinets are built in with allow for them to be plugged in to a standard outlet in the wall.

Any wine whether it be your $500 bottle of Chateau Lafitte or the $15 dollar bottle that you picked up at your local drugstore needs to be racked and stored properly if you plan on stocking them up for more than a couple of months. With the dozens of environmental factors that can affect the aroma of a wine, it makes sense to spend a couple hundred dollars on the storage medium.
